Players tackle the wind

Murray Downs

TWENTY-NINE players tackled the wind at Murray Downs last Thursday and some had a better day than others with only two teams winning both their games. Winners on the day were Doug Fisher, Les Barnes, and Betty Fox.

Runners up were Peter Furnell, John Templeton, and Bernadette Kelly.

Roster duty for November 14 is B.McCartney and B.Pearson.

On the November 16 there is the Murray Downs (Any combination Triples) with a 12:30 pm Start.

Well done to Buc Lehmann who represented Murray Downs in the Murray Valley singles, he won 25/18.

With a few games off due to Vic Open being played at Shepparton, players can still play in social days and training on Fridays to keep their form.

On Sunday at Murray Downs the MMBR Round Robin (Selection trials) will be played with players to be there at 9am for a 9:30am start.

Mid Week Pennant round 6 will be played on Tuesday November 12.

Racecourse

The winners of Jackpot Bowls were Peter Snel and Graham Borchard, with two wins and +10 shots.

Runners up, with one win and +13 shots, were D J Weaver and Marj Nield.

A wonderful day was had by all at our Melbourne Cup luncheon, with Daryl and Mary Barry winning best couple.

Best dressed lady was Brenda Grace and best hat was won by Doreen Polinelli.

David McCarron was the best dressed man.

The yabbie races were lots of fun, but the winner was hard to find.

Our night bowls is going well with KFQS's winning side - Ken Beal, Andrew Ferguson, Quenten Graham and Leo Swan - having two wins and +19 shots.

Berty Beatles - Glen and Kylie Bailey and Mick Fitzpatrict - were runners up, with two wins and +16 shots.

On Sunday November 17 we have our Country Hearing Any Combination Triples with a 12.30pm start.

Swan Hill

Cup day was enjoyed by 60 enthusiastic racegoers.

Fine weather, good food, fun bowls, sweeps and novelty prizes were the order of the day and our yearly caravaners are eagerly awaiting next year's Melbourne Cup Day.

Our three pennant teams will be playing at our club tomorrow and players can enjoy a free sausage sizzle after bowls.

Lake Boga

Winners of Wednesdays bowls were Marie O'Meara, Ted Hyland, Terry Haw and Eric Butcher.

Duty player next week is Ken Hamill.

Thursday night bowls start at 7.30pm, please advise Nola beforehand if you cannot play.

We had a great Melbourne Cup day and best hat went to Evelyn Mortimer while the Lady of the Day was Chris Wontner.

Gent of the Day was Frank Raudino.
