THE Lake Boga Waterski Club is going back to their golden years on the water with a vintage ski day on Sunday.
Head of the social committee, Deanne Heil, is encouraging people to dust off the old cobwebs on their boats, and rock up in their old swimsuits and speedoes.
"With the re-establishment of the Lake Boga Ski Club late last year, we thought instead of all the serious events we've had, we need to have some fun," Heil said.
"To be honest, it was a bit of a last-minute community idea because a few people were talking about some of their old gear in the sheds and single skis.
"A lot of members are excited to show off their retro look."
The club was first established in 1959 and Heil said she had fond childhood memories of growing up on the water with her family and friends.
"This day is a chance to let past and current members come back and reminisce about the days of old as we try to recreate a similar environment at our club," she said.
"We also see it as an opportunity to encourage up-and-coming juniors to get on the water and show families that we are a family-friendly club.
"I grew up skiing and wakeboarding, and I hope my kids will carry on that tradition.
"I've got my dad's old boat and we'll probably put that out on the water on the day."
With the club membership base currently at more than 140, Heil said the club is growing exponentially and hopes to continue the trend.
"I encourage anyone who is even intrigued by the concept to come and see it for themselves," she said.
"It'll be a fun environment and a chance for people to reminisce over a barbecue.
"We'll also be taking in new members on the day."
The events starts at 12pm and for more information, visit the club's Facebook page.
