MURRAY Cod season officially opened yesterday as plenty of anglers were eager to get a line in the water.

Rods, reels, lines, hooks, sinkers and lures were all packed in accordance to the open day conditions.

At some locations, water clarity suited lure fishing and word has it in the past week or so, several metre plus cod have been landed in the Murray River around Swan Hill.
