BADMINTON numbers surged last Monday with 30 players participating in the round robin competition and 20 playing in the social group.
With the new school term started and extra people around the stadium, new times have been set for play. 
Players are asked to register at 7.30pm in order to allow organisers to get matches off on time at 8pm. 
It’s a really affordable sport in the summer and costs only $5 per night which includes shuttles. 
New players are always welcome.
In group 1 last week, Justin Ellis finished first with a very strong +27 points aggregate score. 
Jacob was second, three points behind, and Jeff was a further two points adrift in third place. 
Jake Hepburn and Mitchell Ellis beat Collin Devereux and Trevor Rowlands 30-28 in the match of the night.
Peter Stanton ruled supreme in group 2, scoring a massive +29. 
Rory Toyib was second on +11 and Rahman Amirul came third on +10. 
Toyib and Cherul Nkeim won the closest set by two points from Bruce McDowall and Timy Wak.
Jay Mudiyanse topped the ladder in group 3 in a very competitive section.
Mudiyanse finished with +7. 
He beat Zul by three points and Zul was one point up on Shaun O’Bree (points for The Guardian) who landed in third place. 
The top set was a one-point win to Sandra Butler and Cohen Mortimer, who beat O’Bree and Mudiyanse in a thriller.
Rory Vial scored a big win in group 4, with Noah Starrs second and Alex Starrs third. 
This group waited till the last set to make things really interesting, when the Starrs won a proper battle by three points from Vial and Alexa Neill.
