OLYMPIAN Tessa Lavey is swapping the basketball for a football for a few months after a shock selection by Richmond in the AFLW draft this week.

The 27-year-old Swan Hill born and bred Commonwealth Games gold medalist was taken by the Tigers with the 43rd pick in Tuesday night's draft.
