Family car tax claims ‘absurd’

LOCAL politicians and car dealers claim that cars commonly operated in rural areas will become unaffordable under the government's New Vehicle Efficiency Standards to reduce CO2 emissions.

But the fears have been dismissed as "very selective and absurd" by Professor Aniruddha Desai, director of La Trobe University's Centre for Technology Infusion.
