Police put up the road caution message

SWAN Hill police have set up road safety messages around the town urging caution on district roads over the Easter break.

The annual effort has been supported by Swan Hill District Health and Swan Hill Rural City Council since 2000 and has been been called a success by police.

Organisers are hoping the 2022 campaign can continue this pattern and again keep the Swan Hill district fatality-free for the period in which the road safety messages are up, and beyond.

Acting sergeant in charge of Swan Hill highway patrol Ewan Cummings helped the local L.J. Hooker team install one of the targeted messages in front of Swan Hill's police station recently.

The displayed messages were developed by local school children during a road safety program run over the foundation years by the local L.J. Hooker office. Police will be out in force over the Easter period focusing on speeding offences as well as fatigued and distracted drivers.

Drivers are encouraged to keep the district's safety record intact and do their bit to ensure no local family have to deal with the tragedy of losing a family member to road statistics.
