Mentors rewarded

COACHES from four different clubs have had their hard work rewarded, named as AFL Central Murray’s coaches of the month for June.

Each club in the Central Murray FNL and Golden Rivers FNL has the opportunity to nominate senior or youth coaches at three points throughout the season.

Those rewarded with the honour at the end of each month are then in the running for the Coach of the Year award, to be named at season’s end.

Balranald senior coach Mark Adamson was named as CMFNL senior coach of the month after guiding the Roos to four wins from their last seven games.

“He’s been doing a fantastic job for the last year and a half,” AFL Central Murray football development manager Jamie Macri said.

“It’s exciting if you’re up at Balranald…the club is heading in the right direction.”

Ultima’s Jack O’Rourke was named as Senior Coach of the Month in the GRFL, after his Ultima side finished the first half of the season unbeaten.

The Roos suffered their first defeat a fortnight ago, but still sit a game clear at the top of the ladder.

Mallee Eagles Auskick co-ordinator Darren Scott received the nomination for the CMFNL Junior Coach of the Month, while Hay Under-17.5’s mentor Mick Cattanach has taken the junior nomination in the GRFL.
