THE first week of autumn has delivered a welcome drop of rain across the Mallee with widespread showers boosting the spirits of the region's farmers.

Rain lightly fell in Swan Hill on Wednesday resulting in a total of 25.6mm, with some surrounding areas receiving 55mm in 24 hours.
