Pets through the doors

LEGISLATION for tenants looking to live with their pets are "well overdue", one Swan Hill real estate agent says.

Historic new laws were passed last Monday allowing renters to keep pets in their rental property with written consent from their rental provider.

The landlord has 14 days to apply to Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to refuse consent for a pet.
