RISING ROAD TOLL

A TRAGIC year on state roads has seen Victoria end 2019 with its highest road toll in three years.

A total 263 people died on state roads, with 145 losing their lives on rural roads.

Ninety-six people died on roads in the police service area western region, which includes the municipalities of Swan Hill, Buloke, Gannawarra and Mildura.

Three of those occurred within the Swan Hill municipality.
