Migrants need to be skilled

DISCONTINUED migrant visas are being blamed for a labour shortage in the Swan Hill and Balranald regions.

The regional sponsored migration scheme visa (subclass 187) allows skilled workers, nominated by their regional employer, to permanently live and work in Australia.

The visa was replaced by the Skilled Work Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 491) on November 16.
