Legal gag harms abuse survivors, advocate says

SUNRAYSIA sexual assault survivors who speak out under their real identity, could face jail time or be fined thousands of dollars under a new Victorian law.

Changes to the Judicial Proceedings Report Act, which were quietly introduced in February, have silenced all survivors — where offenders have been found guilty — by banning them from ever publicly sharing their story under their real name.
