BALRANALD Shire Council's general manager, accused of racial vilification, is on leave.

Council administrator Michael Colreavy said Micheal Kitzelmann would be on leave until August 17.

Mr Colreavy said council's director of infrastructure and development, Ray Davy, assumed the acting general manager position until Mr Kitzelmann's return.
