A SMALL fire along the Murray Valley Highway in Swan Hill on Monday spread quickly as wind took hold.

Two Country Fire Authority (CFA) tankers from Swan Hill were called to the scene near the Aerodrome Road turnoff just after 10am, to contain the fire.

The incident occurred between the highway and V/Line track.
