Almond expansion curbed

THE drought and water prices are impacting the short-term expansion of almond orchard plantings across Sunraysia, according to Almond Board of Australia chief executive Ross Skinner.

Mr Skinner said there had been a drop-off in nursery orders over the past two years, and the industry was expecting to see a plateau in plantings at about 50,000 hectares nation-wide.
