Funding for LGBTI support services at Swan Hill

A financial boost sees "another step in the right direction" for Swan Hill District Health who has received greater support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) young people in the community.

The HEY Grant fund which has been provided to the hospital to undertake mental health and community engagement activities for young people aged between 14 and 25 will help to alleviate discrimination and promote acceptance in the community.

Swan Hill District Health health promotion officer Hayden Collins said the $10,000 received by the state government was definitely another step in the right direction.

"(The funding) will consist of two different parts," Mr Collins said.

"It will provide funding to continue the LGBTI social support group by providing food, activities and transport to activities and events outside the Swan Hill area.
