Back to where it began

After a 34 year journey, former Swan Hill resident Darry Fraser finally launched her novel Daughter of the Murray in the place that inspired it.

Held at the Swan Hill Regional Library, the book launch marked the first time since the 1960s that Ms Fraser has visited her former hometown.

"It's been fantastic but also a bit of a shock," she said.

"Everyone has been so friendly."

Ms Fraser reunited with primary school friend Margie Lepore (nee Quirk), who travelled from Melbourne to attend the launch.

The women went to St Mary's Primary School.
