Bring Jill to the hill: Calls for health minister to visit Swan Hill hospital ramps up

AS the state election campaign ramps up, the Labor Government has gone on a health sector spending spree, pledging to fund 10 new or upgraded hospitals across the state. 

But, the splash of cash has bypassed the Swan Hill health service, with funding instead committed to Maryborough, Phillip Island, Torquay, Cranbourne, Craigieburn, Sunbury, Eltham, Fishermans Bend, Whittlesea and Point Cook.

The announcements have been met with disappointment from the Swan Hill Needs a New Hospital campaign committee, which has been campaigning for a funding commitment from the state government since July.

Committee member John McLinden told The Guardian calls for Health Minister Jill Hennessy to visit Swan Hill continued. 

"I think the committee is quite disappointed actually," Mr McLinden said. 

"We have noticed now that a number of letters written by community members are being responded to, either by the minister or by the Victorian Health Building Authority.
