Leading locals: Turf laid on racecourse

LOCAL businesses have taken the lead in the upgrade of the Swan Hill racecourse.

Advance Turf, Think Water and Coburn's Earthmoving were all selected to work on the project.

Owners of Advance Turf, Chris and Joanna Hulland, said the contract was one of the biggest they had undertaken.

Advance Turf have put in plenty of man hours, laying truckloads of turf over three days.

Ms Hulland said the total area covered was 12,000 square metres, taking 12 semi trailer loads and 200 pallets of turf.

She said it was good to see local contractors picked to carry out the work, with the money going back into the local economy.

"It's a fairly substantial job for the Swan Hill community," she said.

Advance Turf supplies turf from Broken Hill to Melbourne.
