TANDARRAH livestock agent and rural contractor Dan Straub has thrown his hat in the ring as candidates for the state election begin to surface.
Mr Straub is running as the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers candidate for the seat of Murray Plains.
The 35-year-old told The Guardian he believed farmers had long been under-represented.
"I feel that the farmers, which is a very hard nut to crack, have been under-represented for a long time," he said.
"I am hoping to change that, I feel I have a pretty good connection with a lot of farmers and I relate to most farmers through my work as a livestock agent and rural contractor."
An avid hunter, who has held the position of SFFP Bendigo chairman for a number of years, Mr Straub said state politics felt like a "natural progression".
"I feel I am ready to stand up and represent the constituents," he said.
