DESPITE being just 13 years of age, Nyawi Moore was picked to represent Basketball Victoria Country at a combine in Melbourne to find the best under 16s Victorian side.
The youngster went to the Victorian capital at the weekend, joining the Bushrangers team as point guard.
The made up side played two matches a day against Vic Metro Basketball sides to find who would form the Victorian side.
Even though he missed out on selection, Nyawi said it was a good experience and he had learnt a lot.
"I went okay, I was happy with how I performed," he said.
"I could have done a bit more with my defensive game... I wasn't containing my player as much as I could have.
"I didn't get picked to go to the next round but it was a good step up for me.
"I was a good feeling playing [against older guys] and it showed me what I needed to work on. I think this will make me a better player."
While the youngster was unable to qualify for the next side, he will return to Swan Hill to continue lighting up the court with his Swan Hill Flyers teammates.
Nyawi was playing for Mixed Nuts Open Men in the domestic league in 2017, another big step up for the 13-year-old.
