A woman has been killed in a horrific crash between a tractor and a B-double truck at Narrung, north of Swan Hill, on Wednesday.

Police believed the tractor, which was carrying oranges, collided with the truck on the Murray Valley Highway near Heywood Lake Road just before 2.30pm, causing the truck to jack knife.

The female driver of the tractor was treated by emergency services but died on scene.

The male driver of the truck was not injured.

The exact cause of the collision will be investigated.
