Regional Development Minister Jaala Pulford visited Swan Hill yesterday to discuss future developments of the Swan Hill riverfront precinct.
Government believes a major redevelopment of Swan Hill's riverfront will attract more tourists and boost the region's economy.
Joined by members of Swan Hill Rural City Council, Ms Pulford walked the length of the Riverfront project and learnt about the history of the riverfront from Swan Hill Mayor Les McPhee.
"I have visited Swan Hill a few times before but most recently I have only come here on business trips," Ms Pulford said.
"My earliest memory of the town is coming here on camping holidays which were always a wonderful experience."
Ms Pulford viewed the complete first stage of enhancement work on the River Walk and the Heartbeat of the Murray laser show site.
She also toured the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement, with its upgrade works under way, as well as the site of the proposed second stage of the River Walk Enhancement.
