JULIE Wardle has been enjoying Country Week Tennis for longer than she can remember.
As an avid local tennis player, Wardle said she has regularly attended Country Week tournaments in Swan Hill and elsewhere.
She also recently played at the regionals in Wangaratta.
"Tennis has been a big part of my life," Wardle said.
This year, her son John will be joining her along with players of all ages from Swan Hill and interstate for a week of tennis and fun.
And with seven matches scheduled throughout the first four days, they will both get a workout.
"If you're in the semi-finals you play one extra game on Thursday," she said.
And hopefully, her team will will triumph over the other seven teams in her section to win the grand final on Friday.
Thankfully though, Wardle said a massage and physiotherapy service will be available for players, although she is yet to take advantage of it.
"They get used quite a bit," she said.
"I've never actually used it."
But it is not all about the tennis as there is plenty of fun and socialising on the agenda off the court.
There will be an opening ceremony on Sunday night and plenty of time to reconnect with old friends.
"It's good fun catching up with players that you've met over the years," he said.
A favourite memory of her years in Country Week Tennis involved a cheerleading stunt performed by her former team, The Gulls.
"We used to actually do a pyramid with the Warrigal girls," she said.
Now, she plans to meet other players from Victoria and interstate who will flood into Swan Hill to form about 200 teams.
"It's great for the town."
