CON Kelly fared the best of the local trainers at Swan Hill's annual Valentine's Day race meet on Tuesday.

His charge, Katlen Ruby, a three-year-old filly claimed victory in the eighth and final race of the day.

Ridden by Kane Post, the $12 outsider saluted ahead of more fancied rivals including Leaping Leroy and Galactic Vision.

The day started shortly before 3pm, with the first race, held over 1600m, attracting a field of 13 runners.

The race was taken out by Neil Dyer's Quite A Gem - a four-year-old mare -- ridden by Mark Pegus.

Jane Matheson's Why Mallan came in second.

Named after Matheson's home town, Mallan, a four-year-old mare, was ridden by Jason Lyon.

Race two saw Miss Camalach, ridden by Dean Yendall, salute on behalf of trainer Robbie Griffiths.

Jenette and Chris Burgess' Rory's Halo came in fifth with Jarrod Todd aboard.

Race three was won by Gary Sheer's Spirit Of Choice, a three-year-old filly.

The Austy Coffey trained Silent Harmony came in third with Harry Coffey aboard.

Jane Matheson had another second in the fourth, thanks to Golden Ella, while Darren Weir's Arpeggio came second.

Arthur Pace had a win in the 1300m fifth race thanks to six-year-old gelding Prinipia, while Con Kelly's Master Houdini finished fourth in the sixth race.

Noel Watson's Dee Vision, a seven-year-old gelding, finished second in the seventh race.
