Man dies while cycling

22 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
A SWAN Hill man collapsed and died while riding his bicycle in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 36-year-old man, who had been living in Swan Hill for a short time, was found in Beveridge Street at 2.20am.

A witness to the event initially tried resuscitation, then flagged down a passing police car.

Swan Hill Police Sergeant Les McPhee said police then continued to attempt to resuscitate the man, but he passed away at the scene.

"He was doing everything right: helmet on, lights on," Sergeant McPhee told The Guardian.

"Apparently (the bicycle) was his primary mode of vehicle," he added.

The cause of death has not been revealed and police have prepared a report for the Coroner.
